Morning traffic; Haitian style

Video

Before lunch we collected everyone's necklace name tags and as I and Berit would say, "thank you" they would have to say, "you're welcome". Apparently the rhythm sounded kind of musical and that's when a new song was born and there was no stopping them!

Back in the States- Always bitter sweet

Picture memories...Leaving Miami for PaP and arriving with ALL our luggage before it gets loaded into the dump truck for the long ride to the Plateau.

Judy; Our favorite person AND photographer!

So many thoughts, so many memories and so many emotions coming home after being in the plateau area of Haiti spending time with beautiful and amazing people!

I've already been working on English lesson plans for our next trip! Not sure WHEN it will be but God willing it WILL BE! :)

I have TONS of pictures and videos I couldn't get up to the blog while I was there. My plan is tomorrow to get up a few more pictures to help share more of our time with Lemuel Ministries.

SO grateful for the team that God put together and looking foreward to seeing who He puts together for the next!
Thanking God for a safe journey for us all. Stay tuned for more pictures...

Thanksgiving evening in Haiti

Just returned from our Thanksgiving supper on the beach. Swam in turquoise colored WARM ocean water during the sunset, roasted hot dogs over a fire and added fried plantain chips, little Haitian fry bread, baked pasta with cheese and a sweet squash dessert with a pineapple topping. We had a generator with lights and beautiful tropical music playing nearby. Not the traditional Thanksgiving but we wouldn't have wanted it any other way!
We had a wonderful last day in the school with our children learning English. At our closing large group time we had students from each class show and display something they were taught and then one of the Haitian instructors attempted to teach all of us numbers and colors in Creole. That gave the students a huge laugh! Some of the students were crying to say good-bye and pretty much all of shed some tears also!
Tomorrow we leave for the orphanage which is actually about 45 minutes north of Port au Prince au Prince. Time to try and upload some pictures which tell so much more than I can type! SOO thankful to be in Haiti!

Construction time..

Brad bringing the table saw- that made it all the way here- to the home they are working on and the guys planning their strategy.

The walk..

Travelling to Lemuel..

At one of the worst parts of the drive north the van was STRUGGLING to move so we all got out and walked through this stretch of road. What a beautiful and unique experience!

On our journey north in Haiti!

A picture worth a thousand words....

Plantains and sugar cane

Monday Night

Wonderful time today organizing all the supplies we brought down and then meeting the teachers at the school we'll be working with for our English classes. GREAT food at every meal! This evening we went on a Haitian garden and home tour. It was SO fun. We were broke up into separate groups with Haitian guides. We saw plantain crops, sugar cane crops, millet crops, goats, pigs, horses, sheep and goats! Every home we went to the were so grateful to have us stop by even greeted with a Haitian kiss!
I even even ate sugar cane straight from the field! LOTS of great pictures and I am going to try and post them yet tonight if I can. The internet isn't allowing all that I had planned to do but that is OK!

We arrived!! On our way to get our luggage.
